Discover Bharat is a travel app concept I designed at the Delhi Designathon 2024. It helps people find the parts of India most itineraries skip.

The problem

India's heritage and landscapes are huge, and most go unnoticed. The lesser-known places have no good showcase.

What it had to do

Educate

The heritage behind a place.

Help people discover

Offbeat places and experiences.

Keep people engaged

Interactive features and light games.

Build a community

Travellers, connected.

It's for travellers off the usual list, people into India's history and culture, visitors from abroad, and students and teachers.

What I designed

Destination guides

What a traveller actually needs.

Maps and routes

Points of interest, suggested routes.

Stories

From people who've been.

Quizzes and badges

History, culture, and a reason to return.

Several languages

For a mixed audience.

Your journeys

Where you've been, what you've earned.

Screens 4 to 6: current events nearby, a route on the map, and public transport options

How I approached it

  1. 01

    Simple first

Easy to find your way around.

  2. 02

    Feels like India

    Bright colours and cultural motifs.

  3. 03

    Mobile first

    Designed for where travellers are.

  4. 04

    Accessible, built on feedback

Checked against users, open to everyone.

It went from problem to finished screens inside six hours, and placed in the Top 10.
